1. What is SpaceBuilder?

SpaceBuilder is software you install on a device, such as a computer or laptop, to create your own online space. The device running the software becomes a "server," and the online environment created on it is called a "Space." As the person operating the Space (the "Administrator"), you may invite other users to join it.

With SpaceBuilder, you can:

  • Invite teammates, clients, guests and other users to communicate and work together
  • Upload and share files, documents and notes
  • Communicate through chats and messages
  • Deploy websites and publish what you create on the web
  • Build and operate your own databases
  • Extend functionality by installing plugins

A Space might be:

  • An on-premises collaboration space for your company
  • A home file-sharing server for family photos
  • An online community built with friends or neighbors
  • A small project website or personal blog
  • A resource library for a study or hobby group

You can create many other kinds of spaces as well.

As a general rule, all data and files in a Space are stored only on your own device. The data stays on the device where the software is installed, and we cannot view it.

2. Our commitments

As the developers and maintainers of SpaceBuilder, we make the following commitments:

  • Software license — We grant Administrators a limited, non-exclusive right to use the software. A license does not transfer ownership of the software. Licenses may be free or paid, and permitted use and features may vary by plan. Prices and plans are described on a separate pricing page. If you have a paid license agreement, its terms take precedence over these terms.
  • Ongoing updates and technical support — During the license term, we provide security patches, bug fixes and improvements. We also provide critical security patches for a reasonable period after sales of a major version end.
  • Response to material defects — If a specified core feature does not work, we will fix it within a reasonable time or provide a refund.
  • Privacy — Personal information you provide is handled in accordance with our separate Privacy Policy.
  • Respect for ownership — All data you create or upload in a Space, including files, messages, documents and notes, belongs to its creator. We claim no rights to it.

3. Your responsibilities

To help keep the software safe for everyone, please observe the following requirements.

Use our software responsibly

SetFN owns the intellectual property rights in all elements of SpaceBuilder, including its code, design, UI/UX, logos, trademarks, manuals and documentation. A license grants a right to use the software, not ownership. We reserve all rights not expressly granted under these terms.

Do not damage the software, circumvent its licensing or use it unlawfully.

  • Do not decompile, reverse engineer or disassemble SpaceBuilder, or extract or reconstruct its source code.
  • Do not create or use cracks or key generators. This includes any attempt to bypass, disable or alter license authentication.
  • Do not resell, rent or redistribute the software, distribute modified installers, components, documentation or manuals, or repackage it as your own service, unless a separate agreement permits it.
  • Do not share, copy or resell license keys. You may retain a reasonable number of installer copies for backup or archival purposes, but those copies remain subject to these terms.
  • Do not remove or alter copyright notices, trademarks or logos in the software.
  • Do not make repeated automated calls or operate multiple instances to circumvent license limits. Instances in local, virtualized and multi-user environments are all counted toward the license limit.

Operate your Space responsibly

A Space created with SpaceBuilder runs on your device. You, as Administrator, are responsible for operating it.

  • Environment management — Server and network operations, security, backup and recovery
  • User management — Invitations, permissions and disputes between users
  • Data management — Lawfulness of data, obligations as a personal information controller, retention and disposal
  • Account and credential security — Protect license keys, administrator accounts and administrative passwords. If you suspect exposure, change them immediately and notify us so that we can help respond.
  • Regular backups — Back up important data regularly. We have no technical means to enter your device and restore it for you.
  • Updates — Apply new versions, particularly security patches, as promptly as possible. Older versions may remain exposed to known vulnerabilities.
  • Vulnerability reports — Tell us if you discover a security issue. We will work to resolve it promptly.
  • Compliance — Comply with all applicable laws of the Republic of Korea and the country where you are located.

Do not operate a Space for:

  • Storing or distributing illegal content
  • Infrastructure for fraud, hacking, malware or other unlawful activities
  • Unlawful collection, processing or disclosure of personal information
  • Content that promotes defamation, harassment or discrimination
  • Any other use that violates applicable laws, including copyright, personal information protection and information and communications network laws

If common sense tells you that a particular use is inappropriate, please do not use the software that way.

Do not cause harm to us or third parties by violating these requirements or using the software unlawfully.

4. Scope and limitations

A Space runs independently on your own device. We therefore cannot know what happens inside each Space. The following matters fall outside the areas in which we can provide assistance or assume responsibility:

  • Loss, corruption or disclosure of data in a Space
  • Disputes between users or copyright disputes
  • The lawfulness of content stored in a Space
  • Problems arising from the Administrator's device or network environment
  • Events beyond our control, such as natural disasters, power failures or cyberattacks

In particular, if data is lost, damaged, saved or deleted contrary to your intentions, we cannot enter your Space to inspect or restore it. We recommend regularly keeping separate backups of important material.

We remain responsible for the quality and security of the software itself and for services we operate directly, such as authentication servers and personal information storage.

Our inability to view the contents of a Space does not mean we will ignore unlawful use. If reports, external information or publicly available material indicate that a Space is being used for a purpose prohibited by Section 3, we may terminate the license, suspend authentication or take other measures.

5. Beta features

We may make some features available in "beta" before their official release. Beta access lets you try new capabilities early, but please keep the following in mind:

  • Features under development may contain unexpected errors or interruptions.
  • Features may be added, changed or removed without advance notice.
  • Data created using beta features may not be compatible with the final release. Keep separate backups of important data.

6. License policy

SpaceBuilder may be offered as a free tier and a paid enterprise version. These differ not only in price, but also in operational responsibilities, support, security features and license maintenance.

CategoryFree tierEnterprise version
PriceFreePaid
Eligible usersIndividuals, teams, communities, companies and othersOrganizations with a separate agreement or subscription
LicenseFree license for a fixed termContract-based, subscription or fixed-term license
RenewalFree renewal through the websiteAutomatic or manual renewal according to the contract term
AuthenticationPeriodic checks with the license serverLicense server checks, with offline or closed-network options potentially available
SupportPrimarily documentation and community supportTechnical support and an SLA may be available
Administrator IP displayBasic maskingServer-side masking and specified audit log policies
Audit logsBasic logs, with retention set by the AdministratorEnhanced logs, export and retention policies
Domain and email pluginsLimited or purchased separatelyIncluded or provided according to the agreement

The free tier is provided at no charge and may be used by teams, communities and companies as well as individuals. It does not, however, mean a perpetual, unlimited license. Free licenses may have an expiration date to prevent abuse and support stable operations. One year is the recommended default validity period.

Expiration and renewal of free licenses may be handled as follows:

  • Default validity: one year from the date of issue
  • Expiration notices: 30 days before, 7 days before and on the expiration date
  • Data after expiration: existing data is not deleted
  • Feature restrictions after expiration: new user invitations, plugin installation, external publishing or deployment, and certain updates may be restricted
  • Renewal: reissue a free license at account.setfn.com
  • Abuse prevention: issuance may be limited based on organization, email, domain, device UID or similar identifiers

The enterprise version's validity period, renewal method, support scope and availability of closed-network or offline authentication may vary according to a separate agreement, subscription terms or quotation. If a paid license agreement, quotation, order form or separate policy differs from these terms, those separate conditions take precedence.

We may operate an authentication server to verify license validity. The software may communicate with it when first installed and periodically during use. These communications may include a license key, device identifier, software version, operating system information and requests to check update availability.

Data inside your Space, such as files, chats and documents, is not transmitted to us during license verification.

7. Plugins

Plugins can extend SpaceBuilder beyond its built-in features. There are two types:

  • Plugins developed by SetFN, such as our email plugin
  • Plugins developed and provided by third-party developers or companies

Regardless of their source, plugins operate under their own separate policies and terms, which take precedence over these terms. Plugins may differ in the data they access and the external communications they make. Review this information carefully before installing one.

Third-party plugin developers are responsible for the operation of their plugins.

SpaceBuilder may provide integrations with external tools, including MCP (Model Context Protocol). We provide the ability to connect to external AI or agents, or the means for MCP integration, rather than the external AI itself.

If an Administrator selects an external AI service and grants permission, authorized files, documents, chats, screen content and work context may be transmitted to that service to perform the requested task. This does not mean the data is transmitted to SetFN's own servers.

The external service's terms and privacy policy govern the data it processes, use for training, retention periods, security policies and fees. We do not control the responses, processing practices, retention, training use or security policies of external AI connected by an Administrator.

8. Updates and diagnostic information

SpaceBuilder may include internet communications for security patches, bug fixes, improvements and license verification. Update methods, frequency and distribution channels may change for operational reasons.

The following information may be transmitted when SpaceBuilder communicates with our services:

CategoryExamplesPurpose
License informationLicense key, plan, validity periodLicense verification, renewal and abuse prevention
Device and environment informationDevice identifier, operating system, CPU architecture, software versionCompatibility checks and updates
Diagnostic informationError codes, crash information, performance logs, update failuresTroubleshooting, quality improvements and customer support
Security and operational informationConnection time, requesting IP address, failed authentication recordsSecurity checks and misuse prevention

This information is used to the extent necessary to provide SpaceBuilder, maintain security, deliver updates and provide customer support. Our separate Privacy Policy governs the details of personal information processing.

As a general rule, data inside a Space, including files, chats, documents and database contents, is not transmitted to us during license verification, updates or diagnostics.

9. Software provided as is

SpaceBuilder is installable server software that is continually being improved. Although we work to keep it reliable, we cannot guarantee error-free operation on every device, server environment or network configuration.

The following may occur:

  • Feature errors or unexpected shutdowns
  • Failed updates or compatibility issues after an update
  • Temporary interruptions caused by maintenance, network failures, insufficient storage or security software
  • Connection problems caused by operating system, Docker, firewall, router, domain or certificate settings
  • Failures or policy changes affecting plugins, external services, external AI or third-party components
  • Synchronization delays, file conflicts, data loss or corruption
  • Changes to, suspension of or removal of certain features

To the extent permitted by applicable law, SpaceBuilder is provided "AS IS." Unless we act intentionally or with gross negligence, we generally cannot be held responsible for loss arising from an Administrator's server environment, network conditions, storage, security settings, plugins, external services, user settings or grants of permission.

Before uploading important files, moving or deleting files in bulk, sharing externally, deploying websites, changing databases, installing plugins or running agent or AI features, check the target Space, permissions, backups and server status yourself.

10. Service changes and interruptions

We work to keep the services we operate directly, including authentication servers, update channels and pricing policies, stable. However, some services may change or be interrupted in the following circumstances:

  • Unavoidable operational reasons, such as server maintenance, equipment replacement or communication failures
  • A need to modify, change or discontinue features or policies to operate or improve the service

We will give reasonable advance notice of foreseeable changes. When changes are not foreseeable, we will explain the circumstances and expected schedule as soon as possible. If a change may affect your data or work, we will endeavor to allow a reasonable period for backup or migration.

Unless applicable law provides otherwise, we generally cannot provide separate compensation for changes to or discontinuation of free features.

11. License termination

An Administrator may terminate the license at any time by deleting the software. We may terminate a license for a material breach of these terms or nonpayment.

After termination, the Administrator's data remains on their device, and we acquire no rights to it. Refunds are governed by the separate license agreement or the policy on the purchase page.

12. Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms in accordance with applicable law. We will post notice on the download page or official website at least 7 days before the effective date, or 30 days before changes that are unfavorable to you. Continued use after the effective date is deemed acceptance of the revised terms.

13. General

  • You permit us to use your feedback freely on a non-exclusive, royalty-free basis to improve our products.
  • These terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Korea. The court with jurisdiction over our registered head office has exclusive jurisdiction at first instance over disputes.
